DIRECTION

Martine2Martine Hébert is a professor at the Department of Sexology, UQAM. Her research focuses on sexual abuse against children and dating violence among adolescents and young adults. She is also interested in the evaluation of intervention and
prevention programs.

Research projects focus mainly on the identification of factors associated to: the adaptation of youth having recently disclosed a sexual abuse, the pathways of victimization and re-victimization and resilience profiles.

Martine Hébert is a member of the Centre de recherche interdisciplinaire sur les problèmes conjugaux et les agressions sexuelles (CRIPCAS) [Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Intimate
Relationship Problems and Sexual Abuse]
et
du Centre de recherche du CHU Ste-Justine [Research center of the Sainte-Justine University Hospital]. She is also responsible for various research teams that are detailed in the « Projects » section.

Postdoctoral fellowship CRC

Marie-Pier Petit is a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Martine Hébert and has a postdoctoral fellowship offered by the Canada Research Chair in Interpersonal Trauma and Resilience Research. Her work focuses on sexual and gender diversity. Her postdoctoral research interests include dating violence during adolescence and predictors of sexual orientation-based violence. She has a Ph.D. in psychology (UQAM).

Mélissande Amédée started her Ph.D. in psychology, in the scientific-professional program, in September 2017. She is supervised by Martine Hébert, and co-directed by Chantal Cyr. She first joined the lab in 2016 as part of a summer internship offered by the Canada Research Chair in Interpersonal Trauma and Resilience Research. As a Vanier fellow, her project focuses on the executive functions and attachment representations of child victims of sexual abuse. She’s the research coordinator of the project studying the developmental pathways of school-aged children who have been sexually abused.

Cyndi Boisjoli is a doctoral student in psychology, in the scientific-professional profile under the supervision of Martine Hébert. She is studying the impact of alexithymia on the behavioral problems of child victims of sexual abuse. She has also been a counselor at the Lanaudière Youth Center and is currently pursuing her clinical internships at Des Affluents School Board. She is recipient of a doctoral level CRSH scholarship.

Amélie Gauthier-Duchesne is a doctoral student in sexology under the supervision of Martine Hébert. She is particularly interested in the sexual victimization of boys. Her doctoral project focuses on the consequences experienced by adolescent victims of sexual abuse as well as their disclosure experiences. She was granted the Joseph-Armand-Bombardier SSHRC Fellowship and is also coordinator of the Canada Research Chair in Interpersonal Trauma and Resilience student lab.

Valérie Théorêt is currently a doctoral student in the scientific-professional psychology program and is supervised by Martine Hébert. As part of her doctoral project, she is studying the association between attachment and the different forms of violence in adolescent’s intimate relationships. Valérie obtained a Joseph-Armand-Bombardier SSHRC Ph.D. scholarship.

Amélie Tremblay-Perreault is a doctoral student in psychology, a scientific-professional profile supervised by Martine Hébert. Her doctoral research focuses on the role of internal blame attributions in the peer revictimization of child victims of sexual abuse. Amélie was granted a Joseph-Armand-Bombardier SSHRC Ph.D. scholarship. She coordinates the recruitment and data collection of a comparison group of non-abused children aged 6 to 12 years old.

Marianne Girard is a master's student in sexology, research-intervention profile, under the supervision of Martine Hébert and co-directed by Natacha Godbout. In 2016, she joined the research activities of Martine Hébert's lab thanks to a research fellowship from the Marie-Vincent Inter-university Research Chair for sexual abuse on children. As part of her master’s dissertation, she is interested in the relationships between feelings of guilt, post-traumatic stress symptoms and depression among teenage girls who have experienced sexual abuse. She is a recipient of SSHRC and FRQSC scholarships.

[Sexual dating violence and psychological destress: the role of resilience]

Arnaud Samson-Richer is beginning his master's degree in sexology, concentration research-intervention, under the supervision of Martine Hébert. He is interested in dating violence in adolescence, and more precisely sexual violence. His thesis project focuses on the role of resilience as a protective factor that can influence the relationship between this particular form of violence and psychological distress.
