Youths’ Romantic Relationships (YRR)

The Youths’ Romantic Relationships (YRR) Survey was carried out in Quebec between 2011 and 2014. This project documented the prevalence of teen dating violence and the risk and resilience factors associated. Nearly 8,200 adolescents aged 14 to 18 years participated in the study. The YRR Survey was replicated internationally in France, Italy and Brazil.

Findings from the YRR Survey contributed to the development of various educational and preventive strategies. In partnership with local and regional organizations, awareness tools for youths, as well as teachers and professionals working with adolescents have been developed to promote healthy dating relationships.

A social media awareness campaign was also broadcast on social networks in order to raise awareness among adolescents about dating violence and to promote healthy dating relationships through positive messages and key findings of the YRR Survey.
