Discover our students – Doctorate in psychology
Valérie completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology, honors profile, at the Université de Montréal. She is currently doing a doctorate in psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, under the supervision of Martine Hébert, Ph.D., director of the laboratory.
For her doctoral thesis, Valerie is investigating violence in adolescent romantic relationships. More specifically, she is interested in the association between romantic attachment, emotion regulation difficulties and different forms of violence (psychological, physical and sexual) in youth, while considering gender differences in violence. Her doctoral research is linked with the Youth Romantic Relationship Project (YRRP) project. Valerie has been a member of the lab since 2016. In the past few years, she had the opportunity to conduct research in the field of violence prevention and treatment as well as to offer trainings on dating violence in high schools. Furthermore, she offered an undergraduate course to sexology students on this topic at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Since the beginning of her doctoral studies, Valérie participated in the writing of many scientific papers. The articles related to her thesis have been published in the journal of the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Valerie aspires to continue her academic training by completing a post-doctorate!
