New master’s student – Mélina Gilbert

Mélina holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Université de Montréal. She has also completed a certificate in sexual health at the Université Laval, which reinforced her interest in various aspects of human sexuality. She is now pursuing a master’s degree in sexology at the Université du Québec à Montréal under the supervision of Mylène Fernet, Ph.D. and Martine Hébert, Ph.D.

Mélina’s research interests revolve around the adolescent years, especially regarding the emergence of romantic relationships and sexual violence, but also eating disorders that may develop during this developmental period. As part of her master’s degree, she is interested in the coping skills used by adolescent victims of sexual dating violence.

For many years, Mélina has worked with adolescents as a coach. Through her research project, she now aims to improve our knowledge of adolescents’ needs to enhance the efficacy of interventions targeting young victims.

Welcome to the team Mélina!
