Research Professional Portrait – Catherine
Catherine Moreau holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in sexology from UQAM. She has been involved in the projects of Martine Hébert’s Research Laboratory since 2011. As a research professional, she is currently coordinating the Sparx project, a program to promote positive relationships and prevent teen dating violence. She also coordinated the Youths’ Romantic Relationships (YRR) survey, which, among other things, established a portrait of victimization in dating relationships among a representative sample of youth from Quebec. She contributes to various activities of the Canada Research Chair in Interpersonal Traumas and Resilience, notably in the administrative management of projects, the writing of grant applications and reports, as well as knowledge transfer (e.g. support for the writing of scientific papers,development of tools for various clienteles). She is also the Editorial manager of the International Journal of Child and Adolescent Resilience, of which Martine Hébert is the Editor-in-Chief.
One of the main sources of pride in her work is providing support to the students in the lab, whether it is related to REB procedures for their research projects, the recruitment of participants or any other type of request helping to guide them in their academic path. Ultimately, Catherine hopes that the projects she is involved in will contribute to the advancement of knowledge regarding best practices in the prevention of teen dating violence and the well-being of youth. She appreciates the variety of tasks that Martine Hébert’s Laboratory offers her developing her expertise as a research professional as well as the opportunity to work within an experienced and stimulating team.
