Student Portrait – Luna

Luna completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Montreal. As a specialized educator in a youth center for almost two years, Luna has acquired experience in intervention with teenage victims of sexual violence. Through her clinical experience, she has discovered a particular interest in the phenomenon of resilience in adolescents.

Luna has a genuine concern for the protection of youth in matters of sexual abuse, which is why she wishes to engage in a better understanding of the protective factors of sexual victimization. Her admiration for Dr. Martine Hébert’s work on the different trajectories of child victims of sexual abuse led her to want to get involved in her lab.

Luna is beginning her master’s degree in sexology, in research-intervention, clinical and developmental research profile, under the direction of Dr. Martine Hébert. The objective of her master’s project is to explore the portrait of adolescents aged 12 to 18 receiving services from the Marie-Vincent Foundation, with a particular focus on resilience as a protective factor against the development of post-traumatic stress symptoms. The project that the student is undertaking with curiosity and motivation aims at preventing sexual abuse in order to better protect children and adolescents.
