Student Portrait- Marianne

Marianne completed a bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Université du Québec à Montréal, and she discovered a passion for interpersonal relationships and sexuality. She is committed to helping others through the knowledge that will result from her research studies and sexuality education. Therefore, she has decided to pursue a master’s degree in sexology in sexuality education and sexual health promotion in the fall of 2022.

As part of her master’s degree, Marianne is interested in sexual assertiveness as a risk factor for sexual coercion in romantic relationships and the consequences of sexual coercion on sexual desire. Marianne will complete her master’s degree under the co-direction of Dr. Martine Hébert and Dr. Mylène Fernet. She has a lot of admiration for Dr. Hébert, mainly because of her numerous awards, publications, and involvement in the academic field to reduce violence against youth. Marianne is excited to be co-directed by these two strong and inspiring women researchers, inspiring her to always push herself further.

Since joining Dr. Hébert’s laboratory as a research assistant, Marianne has greatly appreciated the warmth and support of all its members. She also works as a shelter worker for women in difficulty, which has opened her eyes to the challenges surrounding them. This experience encourages her to continue her studies and career to help vulnerable people.

Welcome to the team, Marianne!
