Student Portrait – Marilou
Marilou completed a bachelor’s degree in sexology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, and a certificate in psychoeducation at the Université de Montréal.
As a psychosocial counsellor at the Centre d’Aide et de Lutte contre les Agressions à Caractère Sexuel in Châteauguay, Marilou has a keen interest in the phenomenon of sexual violence. Concerned with the prevention of sexual violence among diverse populations, she is happy to be involved in Dr. Hébert’s laboratory, whose work and accomplishments greatly converge with her academic and professional interests.
Marilou is beginning her master’s degree in sexology in the field of research intervention, in the sexuality education and sexual health promotion profile, under the co-direction of Dr. Martine Hébert and Dr. Mylène Fernet. Her research focuses on the impact of sexual violence on the sexual health of women who use the services of domestic violence shelters.
In search of new learning and optimistic about any experience that will shape her skills as a future professional, Marilou enters graduate school with motivation and openness.
