Student Portrait – Ophélie

Ophélie has just finished her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where she completed a thesis on the role of emotional regulation on depressive symptoms and biological markers of stress in the context of a pandemic under the supervision of Frédérick Philippe, Ph.D.

She is a psychosocial worker with women victims of violence. Through this experience, she has developed skills in working with clients in a vulnerable context. Her interest in the work of Martine Hébert, Ph.D., on the different trajectories of child victims of sexual abuse led her to pursue a Master’s degree in sexology research-intervention in sexuality education and sexual health promotion in the fall of 2022.

Ophélie admires the work and accomplishments of Dr. Hébert and the members of her laboratory, mainly because of the high level of publications, the numerous awards obtained, and the relevance of their research to issues related to sexual abuse and violence in relationships. For her Master’s degree, Ophélie is interested in emotional regulation and coping strategies in children who have been sexually abused.
