Student Portrait- Valéry
Valéry completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal, during which she conducted an honours thesis on the recognition of emotions in children who were victims of sexual abuse and exposed to partner violence. She is now undertaking a Ph.D. in psychology under the direction of Martine Hébert, Ph.D. and Louise Cossette, Ph.D.
For her doctoral thesis, she is interested in emotional skills such as emotion recognition and alexithymia symptoms in child victims of sexual abuse and exposed to partner violence. Valery particularly appreciates the support of Dr. Hébert’s laboratory. She also admires the diversity and richness of the knowledge and activities of Dr. Hébert.
Valéry joined the research laboratory during the last year of her undergraduate degree in psychology when she was doing her honours thesis. She continued her involvement as a research assistant by getting involved in the IRSC III project. Valéry is also contributing to other ongoing projects in the lab, including the evaluation of the Lantern program, a sexual abuse prevention program for children.
Welcome to the team, Valéry!
