Marie-Vincent Interuniversity Research Chair in Child Sexual Abuse

Created in 2005, the Marie-Vincent Interuniversity Research Chair aims to develop a cutting-edge expertise in the screening and treatment of sexual violence against children and adolescents.
The Chair aims to:
- increase knowledge to allow stakeholders and partners of the Center of Expertise Marie-Vincent to develop and evaluate specialized therapeutic services to improve their quality for victims (0-18 years) and their relatives, as well as for children under 12 years with problematic sexual behavior. More specifically, findings from the Chair will enable the Center to acquire specialized tools, practice guides or intervention protocols and innovative prevention practices;
- disseminate research results on the nature and consequences of sexual abuse, on the evaluation of specialized prevention and intervention services offered by the Center and their partners, and their impact on young victims in order to further the development of cutting-edge practices and knowledge;
- train the next generation, who will benefit from an exceptional research environment due to the proximity of the Center and its services;
- enable the Center to exercise leadership in the development of specialized services and in cutting-edge training.

The Chair’s research program revolves around three axes:
- Axis 1 – Identify developmental profiles and pathways;
- Axis 2 – Evaluate the services provided and the trajectories of psycho-socio-judicial services;
- Axis 3 – Evaluate prevention initiatives.
